On Thursday, March 20, the New Jersey Association of Colleges for Teacher Education (NJACTE) will be holding our Annual Day of Assessment Conference with the theme, “Evaluating Excellence: Leveraging Data for Continuous Improvement.” The conference is free to attend and accessible entirely online by our conference host, the College for Education and Engaged Learning at Montclair State University. Pre-Conference Sessions by our two generous sponsors, 240 Tutoring and the Teacher Apprenticeship Network will begin at 1:00 p.m.
Concurrent presentations will begin at 1:35 p.m. “Using Expert Teams to Supervise and Support Teacher Candidates” will look at the practices and procedures used identify teacher candidates’ professional development needs, in accordance with the New Jersey Professional Standards for Teaching/InTASC. “Generative AI-Assisted Qualitative Analysis of Focus Group Feedback Data” will explore how consumer level, Large Language Model (LLM) based, generative AI platforms can be used to process qualitative data.
At 2:25 p.m. “A Life as an AAQEP Education Program Provider in New Jersey” will feature a panel of 4 New Jersey AAQEP-accredited EPPs who will share their experiences gathering and using data within AAQEP’s four-standard framework. “K.E.E.P. Building Partnerships, Enhancing Observations, and Revolutionizing Portfolio Practices for Teacher Success” will highlight the value of creating partnerships with P-12 districts and utilizing K.E.E.P. (Kean Educator Evaluation Performance) portfolio, a performance assessment tool.
At 3:15 p.m. “Focus on CAEP Standard R5: Understanding Quality Assurance and Continuous Improvement” will take a look at the key areas of Standard R5 and provide key examples of how to address each of the four elements of this often cited standard. “Culturally Responsive Assessments: Creating Equity-minded Assessments” will focus on the learning experience of assessments and establishing a growth mindset culture and a culture of vulnerability in the classroom.
